Our Tall Oaks Titan kneels in noble humility
Our logo is the Titan. During a logo contest in 2007, this kneeling Titan was chosen from among many entries. This kneeling Titan reflects the philosophy of all we do. We are here to glorify our God and we bow humbly to serve the King. We have a strong commitment to developing character, that imitates and reflects the character of Christ, on and off the playing field. Our desire is to compete to win the prize, but not at all costs. Our reflection of the King we serve is the most important component of our athletic experience. When mistakes are made, we will make ever effort to be repentitive and reconciled. The core values of joy, excellence and perseverance underline all that we do in athletics with the attitude of serving our King.
Our school has a strong academic program which requires much from our students. We have a strong commitment to family life. In trying to balance these demands and develop excellence in our athletic endeavours, it must be remembered that limitations in practice and game schedules is necessary. We will ask for each athlete to make a commitment to the team for the entire season, attending all practices and games.
Our fall sports will include junior high and varsity volleyball, junior high and varsity cross country and junior varsity boys soccer. In the winter, we will offer junior high and varsity basketball and in the spring we will offer junior varsity girls soccer.
We look forward to the upcoming year of sports at Tall Oaks.

A contest was held to find a mascot for our sports teams. More than twenty students submitted artwork entries. Students from Kindergarten up to twelfth grade submitted their best work for the chance to win the prize. The quality and creativity of their work exemplified the fine arts portion of their classical and Christian education. The winning design was submitted by our three Senior students (Class of 2008): Nicole Leager, Chris Brearly and Ben Zinkand as a joint collaboration. You may ask yourself, “Why is the Titan kneeling?” The winning entrants explain it this way, “Our Titan kneels in noble humility before his king prior to entering battle. A true warrior fights valiantly with the intent to win. His motive is not his own glory, but rather the glory of his king.”
It soon won the hearts of the Tall Oaks family as we realized that our athletic endeavors should also reflect the noble humility with a concern for God’s glory whenever we take to the field or to the court.
The Lady Titan's Volleyball Team had an amazing season this year! Our Varsity team was coached by Mark Unruh and our Junior High Team by Jen daPonte. We had very exciting games and some heart-breaking losses but through it all we gave the glory to God!
Our Varsity team made it to the first round of the Mid-Atlantic Independent League Playoffs this year. We had two players make All Conference –Kassiya Yarovoy and Rachael Simmons. Kassiya also made the All Tournament Team. We will say goodbye to three seniors this year: Phoebe Hu, Megan Palmer and Kassiya Yarovoy—all amazing leaders to our younger players. Our Junior High Team (which only had one lady who had ever played before) learned the beauty of playing on a team and de-veloped such amazing skills that even their opponents commented on their improvements over the season. We are so excited to see what God has planned for our teams next year!

The Tall Oaks Cross Country Team has had a great season this year. With nineteen students running for the team, we had strong showings in both JV and Varsity levels at each of our meets. I am proud of each one of these runners, as I have seen them push them-selves over the course of the last two months. It was heartwarming to see the character of our runners displayed as those who finished first ran back to encourage their teammates. Finally, it was a pleasure to be able to bring trophies back to the school for display. It really shows the hard work and determination by our kids to constantly improve their run times.
I am grateful to all the parents who helped with rides this year to our 'away' meets. Also, both Beth Weber and Jen Minson were key in the success of this year's program. Because of them, our Cross Country Team truly stayed on track throughout the season. - Coach Jeff Silver
